Michael McCann

Business Development Manager

Mr McCann joined Energy Strategies in early 1997, having been a member of Canberra based energy auditing and consultancy firm Energy Partners since its formation in 1990. Michael is an adept negotiator and is highly experienced at developing new business opportunities and alliance using the extensive practical skills developed as a ‘hands on’ business operator. He has been at various times involved in raising venture capital for new technology, been involved in media production for print, internet and TV and run research and development projects, retail operations and extensive marketing and community education campaigns.

Michael has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and is the former editor of Australian Energy News (1997 – 2002), a glossy color quarterly magazine which he produced for the Department of Industry, Science and Resources and had more then 10,000 readers. Michael has a long standing involvement in the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy in Australia. He has a keen grasp of the issues in energy markets, and his knowledge spans energy use, technology and economics in most industry sectors. He is presently working on energy efficiency in building systems, development of a small biomass generator, and a broadband communication project on greenhouse responses.
